Harvard Athletic Association
Serving the community of Harvard, Massachusetts
Baseball/Softball Program
Baseball involves over 200 Harvard kids ages 5 through 15. HAA organizes age
appropriate teams typically structured as follows.
Boys and girls ages 5-6 play T-ball, hitting the ball off of a stationary “T” or stand. Ages
7-8 play “coach-pitch”, also known as Rookie Ball.
Typically, girls aged 9-12 play softball. The T-ball, Rookie, and Softball groups are
organized into teams that play in-town.
Boys ages 9-12 play in the “Minors” or “Majors”, which are programs chartered with
Little League Baseball. These groups compete among themselves in-town and with
teams from neighboring towns in the Harvard-Lancaster-Berlin-Bolton League (HLBB).
Players aged 13-15 participate in the MacIntosh Babe Ruth League which
encompasses Harvard, Ayer, Shirley, Littleton, Dunstable and Groton.
Players aged 16-18 can try out for a Senior Babe Ruth team in the Montachusetts
League. Harvard players typically participate on the ASH ( Ayer-Shirley-Harvard) team.
Most baseball, softball, and T-ball games take place on weekday evenings, with games
beginning around 6:00. Some Minor and Major baseball games take place late Sunday
afternoons as well. The season runs from late April through June. The traditional
“Opening Day Parade” and ceremonies usually take place on the last Sunday in April or
first Sunday in May to mark the official beginning of the season.
Signups usually take place November thru mid-December.
